A person was shot on Centre Street in Jamaica Plain on Tuesday afternoon, Boston police said.
The female was shot in the upper body outside 265 Centre St. at 3:11 p.m. and rushed to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Police did not know the motive for the attack, said Sergeant Detective John Boyle, a police spokesman.
After the shooting, two cars collided at the corner of Columbus Avenue and Center Street in the Jackson Square area. It wasn’t clear if the crash was related to the shooting. The driver was taken in for questioning.
Police Commissioner William Gross said in a news conference at the scene that no arrests had been made. He said the victim was possibly in her late teens.

Residents in the neighborhood have come forward to help police with the investigation, Gross said.
“Enough is enough, folks. You have a young woman shot in broad daylight. We, as a society, should say, ‘That’s enough,’” he said.
