A Braintree man is facing gun charges after he was arrested while trying to run away from police in East Boston, according to police.
Damari Larkins, 18, was arrested around 7:38 p.m. Thursday by members of the Boston Police Department’s Youth Violence Strike Force, according to a posting on bpdnews.com.
Police said officers on patrol noticed a group of males in the area of 164 Waldemar Ave. in East Boston, and when the officers tried to speak with them, they ran away.
Officers pursued the males and eventually caught up to Larkins, who appeared to be clutching something in his right front pocket, according to police. Officers recovered an Armi Galesi-Brescia Brevetto firearm loaded with seven rounds of live ammunition from the suspect’s front right pocket and placed him under arrest.
Larkins was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a loaded firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition, according to police.Emily Sweeney can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org. Follow her on Twitter @emilysweeney.
