Boy, 15, identified as victim in fatal Millbury fire

Authorities have identified the teenage boy whose body was found in a home that caught on fire last weekend in Millbury as James Belanger, 15, according to the Worcester district attorney’s office.

That office said in a Friday statement that an autopsy report has not yet been received from the state’s chief medical examiner’s office.

“The matter remains under review,” read the statement.

A smoky fire was reported in the living room of a home at 26 Stone Road shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday, officials said.

The body of a boy who lived in the home was found in the rubble of the room. Three other residents escaped the fire. One was burned on his face and arms while trying to put out the fire with an extinguisher, authorities said.

The state’s Department of Fire Services confirmed Friday that an investigation into the cause of the blaze is ongoing.
