Man sentenced to 5 to 6 years in state prison for 2017 rape in Harwich

A 28-year-old man was sentenced to five to six years in state prison Friday for raping a woman who lost conscious after drinking alcohol in Harwich last year , prosecutors said.

David J. Condon was also found guilty by a Barnstable County jury of misleading a police investigation and sentenced to three years of probation on that charge, the Cape and Islands district attorney’s office said in a statement.

On Jan. 24, 2017, Condon was socializing and drinking alcohol with a woman and another person at a residence when the woman lost consciousness and woke up to Condon “ . . . having sex with her, to which she never consented,” the statement said.

Condon later provided a false address to police when he was interviewed, prosecutors said.
