In Scituate, authorities investigating bulldozer incident that killed worker

Authorities are investigating in Scituate after a Friday afternoon incident involving a bulldozer left a 61-year-old man dead, police said.

Scituate police officers and firefighters responded to the incident on Sixth Avenue around 1:30 p.m.

Arriving officers found the man dead at the scene, Scituate police said in a statement.

Scituate police, State Police, the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the state’s office of the chief medical examiner are investigating.

An OSHA spokesman confirmed in an e-mail the agency has opened “an inspection of SLT Construction due to a fatality in Scituate, MA today.” The administration has six months to complete the inspection.

“OSHA does not normally comment on an open inspection,” said the spokesman in the e-mail.
