Audrey Pence, the daughter of Vice President Mike Pence and his wife, Karen, got engaged in Provincetown at Race Point Beach Friday.
Audrey Pence, a recent Northeastern University grad, took to Instagram to announce the news with a series of photos of the pair kissing in the rain and showing off the ring.
“Of course I said yes, and then we got caught in a rainstorm!” Audrey Pence posted to Instagram. “Rain or shine I’m so glad you’ll always be by my side.”
She did not identify her fiance, who is Daniel Tomanelli, a fellow Northeastern alum.
One of her sisters responded to the post with pure joy.
Charlotte Pence responded to the post with a series of crying emojis and “ANOTHER BROTHER CANT WAIT.”
Audrey Pence, the youngest of the veep’s daughters, is reportedly less conservative than her father. According to a 2018 Vanity Fair article, Audrey Pence describes herself as “socially liberal.”
Audrey Pence is now a law student at Yale, according to Vanity Fair.
The Kappa Sigma of Northeastern Xi Beta Chapter posted a profile of Tomanelli to Facebook back in 2017. According to the post, Tomanelli is from Cheshire, Conn., and majored in political science and international affairs with a minor in Arabic.
In 2017, when Tomanelli was 21, he was injured while flying in a plane with his father, Dr. Joseph Tomanelli, who died in the crash.
Audrey Pence was mentioned in Dr. Tomanelli’s obituary in relation to Daniel Tomanelli.
“The Pence family is keeping the Tomanelli family in their thoughts and prayers following the tragic airplane accident,” said Marc Lotter, Mike Pence’s press secretary at the time.
Alyssa Farah, Mike Pence’s current press secretary, has not responded to a request for comment.
According to ProPublica, Daniel Tomanelli took a job with the Department of Defense as special assistant to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Middle East.
