A woman was seriously burned and her daughter was also injured when a kitchen fire broke out in Ludlow on Sunday morning, officials said.
The woman’s clothes caught fire around 9:20 a.m. in her Lawton Street home, causing severe burns, according to Ludlow Fire Captain Richard Machado. Her daughter tried to put the fire out, causing her to sustain injuries as well, Machado said.
The residents successfully put out the fire by the time firefighters arrived, he said. The pair was transported to Baystate Medical Center and were in stable condition as of Sunday afternoon, Machado said.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Ludlow police and fire departments, as well as the fire marshal’s office, according to Machado.
