Neighbors come to the rescue of Holyoke woman pinned under car

A Holyoke woman who was trying to push a car out of the snow Monday afternoon was trapped when the vehicle rolled back over her, authorities said.

The woman was seriously injured in the accident, which happened on North East Street around 1:40 p.m, Holyoke Fire Lieutenant Michael Boucher said.

Neighbors used a jack to lift the car and allow her to escape. She was taken to Baystate Medical Center.

The woman was reportedly helping dig out other cars in the neighborhood, Boucher said.

“Be careful while trying to dig your cars out,” he said. “Slow is better than fast when you’re trying to push a vehicle.”
