Victim identified in Weymouth pedestrian fatality

A pedestrian hit and killed by a vehicle in Weymouth Monday has been identified as 71-year-old William D. Fredette of Brockton, Weymouth police said Tuesday morning.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Fredette’s family and friends,” the department said in a Twitter posting identifying the victim, who was struck near 715 Bridge St. just before 6 p.m.

The driver, a firefighter paramedic from Hull named Brian Snow, came to Fredette’s aid after the collision, according to the Hull fire chief. The crash remains under investigation.
