Police in Ware are seeking a 40-year-old man who allegedly bit off part of someone’s ear earlier this month, the department said Monday night.

On Feb. 7, officers were summoned to the Baystate Mary Lane Outpatient Center in Ware after a patient walked into the emergency room with a portion of an ear torn off, according to a Facebook post from Ware police.

The victim, who was not identified, told police that Alan Mosher, of Osborne Road in Ware, had bitten the ear after “an unprovoked attack,” police said.

An arrest warrant has been issued, but so far police have been unable to find Mosher, who is still believed to be in the Ware area, police said.

Anyone with information on Mosher can make an anonymous tip by contacting police at or 413-967-3571.
