Five people, including young children, were seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash in the Western Massachusetts town of Ludlow Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Multiple ambulances responded to the crash that took place at about 2:50 p.m. at Russell Street and Shawinigan Drive, Ludlow police said in a statement.

The five injured were taken to the hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. Their conditions were not known Wednesday night.
