After nearly two years of construction, a new $16.9 million commuter rail station is set to open in Mattapan Monday, the MBTA announced.

The Blue Hill Avenue stop received the green light on Sunday, after final inspections were completed, the transit agency said in a statement.

The station is on the Fairmount Line, the only commuter rail line that runs exclusively through Boston.

It sits between the Morton Street and Fairmount stations, and was “completed on budget and on schedule,” according to the statement.

The station, which includes a center-island platform and two covered pedestrian ramps, is ¼-mile from Mattapan Square. It is accessible from both Cummins Highway and Blue Hill Avenue.
