State Police are investigating a hoax phone call reporting that a teenage girl had been kidnapped in Revere Tuesday evening.

Revere police received a call at 5:48 p.m. from a caller claiming to be a 17-year-old girl who had been kidnapped by another female. The caller said she was being held against her will in the trunk of a green Honda SUV, State Police said in a press release.

The call was traced to a phone in the area of the Parkside Apartments at Overlook Ridge, which is located just off Route 1, on the Malden line.

All available troopers in the area were sent to assist Revere police in the search for the girl or the vehicle. A State Police helicopter was also sent, according to the statement.

Police were unable to find the girl or the SUV and discovered that the number used for two recent hoax calls in the Malden and Revere area, according to the statement.
