Regular service resumed on the Orange Line at about 6:15 p.m. following a fire on the tracks near Malden Center according to the MBTA.
The fire complicated the rush hour commute for some Orange Line riders Tuesday afternoon.
In a tweet sent shortly after 4 p.m., the MBTA indicated that shuttle buses had replaced Orange Line service in both directions between the Wellington and Oak Grove T stops. Malden firefighters were on scene near the Malden Center stop, according to that agency.
The fire was quickly extinguished, according to the MBTA. There were no injuries, an MBTA spokesman confirmed, and the cause is under investigation.
