Boston police officers sing ‘Take Me Out to the Ball Game’

The Boston Police Department is ready for opening day at Fenway Park.

The department has posted a video starring Officer Kim Tavares, Officer Stephen McNulty, and Wally the Green Monster, the official mascot of the Red Sox.

In the video, McNulty and Tavares encounter Wally walking around with the World Series championship trophy. They offer to give Wally a ride in the police cruiser, and on the way to the park, the officers sing a stirring rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”

Police posted the video online in advance of Tuesday’s opening day game at Fenway, along with the following message: “Members of the Boston Police Department will be hard at work to make sure the ballpark and surrounding areas are safe,” police wrote on bpdnews.com. “As you can see Officers were ready to take Wally the Green Monster out to the ball game for Opening Ceremony! To the Fenway Faithful: Enjoy the game, celebrate responsibly, and get home safely! Go Sox!”

McNulty and Tavares are known for their duets. They appeared on the “Today” show last July, and appeared in another video in February singing Queen’s “We Are The Champions” after the Patriots won the Super Bowl.
