Halifax woman arrested after driving over two cars

A Halifax woman was arrested after driving over two cars and side-swiping another in a Walmart parking lot around 11 a.m. on Sunday, Halifax Police Sargent Patrick Sterling said.

The woman, who is in her early 60’s, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, Sterling said.

She was attempting to pull into a parking spot when she pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, he said. She swiped a car, went entirely over another, and pulled up over the right front quarter of the last car, Sterling said. A Walmart employee was in one of the cars involved and was uninjured, but shaken up, he said.

The woman was arrested and released on personal recognizance, Sterling said. The incident is being investigated by the Halifax Police Department. The woman is expected to be arraigned in Plymouth District Court on Tuesday, he said.

No other information was immediately available.
