Worcester police investigating hit and run that left 16-year-old girl with injuries

Worcester police are investigating a hit and run that seriously injured a 16-year-old girl on Wednesday, officials said.

The teen was crossing Burncoat Street at the intersection with Melrose Street at about 6:45 a.m. when a black sedan traveling east struck her without stopping, Worcester police said in a statement.

She was taken to a hospital for treament of injuries, including broken bones. She is expected to survive, police said.
