Trash truck rolls over on ramp to Route 1 in Saugus

The ramps between Route 1 and Main Street in Saugus were closed for more than two hours during rush hour Thursday morning after a fully loaded dump truck rolled over during the rainy morning commute, officials said.

State Police were sent to the messy scene around 5:23 a.m. after a trash truck rolled over on the on ramp to Route 1 southbound near Main Street, spilling trash across the lanes, said State Police Sergeant Nicole Morrell.

Both the on and off ramps were closed until 7:53 a.m. while the truck was flipped back upright and towed away, Morrell said.

There were no injuries, and it is unclear what caused the crash.
