Two Boston high schools put in ‘safe mode’ Wednesday morning

Boston police said two high schools in Boston were placed in “safe mode” Wednesday morning.

English High School and Madison Park Technical Vocational High School were both placed into safe mode in response to something that was posted on social media, according to Sergeant Detective John Boyle, a spokesman for the Boston Police Department.

“We have no credible threat, but we are investigating both postings,” said Boyle.

The safe mode was lifted at 1:15 pm., according to Jessica Ridlen, a spokeswoman for the Boston Public Schools.

“During safe mode, classes continue as normal, but no visitors are allowed to enter the building and the doors are locked,” she said in an e-mail. “As a result, we will continue to have additional police presence at the schools today through tomorrow as a precaution.”
