A Connecticut woman punched, slashed, and choked her 70-year-old mother before apparently giving up in frustration when her mother would not die, according to police. Gail Litsky repeatedly assaulted her mother over a three-hour span late Friday and into Saturday morning, investigators said. Authorities said the attacks only ended after Litsky told her teenage daughter, who had been staying at the home, to call police. Litsky, 47, was arraigned in Hartford Superior Court on Monday, detained on $500,000 bail and ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation. Her mother, Evelyn Nirenstein, was being treated at a hospital for bruises on her face and multiple lacerations, police said.
