A Revere couple are the proud parents of Boston’s first baby of the New Year, born at Massachusetts General Hospital shortly after midnight.
Spencer Weigman, 25, and Donna Hill, 31, welcomed their first born, Rylee Margaret, at 12:43 a.m. She weighed eight pounds and four ounces. Her mother said she knew what her daughter’s name was going to be once she was told the gender. The middle name is for Rylee’s maternal grandmother.
Hill said she was not expecting her daughter to be the first for Boston.
“Once midnight came and went I figured it wasn’t going to happen,” she said in an interview.
While the mother said the distinction of first in 2015 does not mean anything special to her or her husband, the rest of her family is very pleased. Hill said she is just happy her daughter has arrived. Rylee’s due date was Dec. 27 . Hill said she had a relatively easy pregnancy with no cravings, complications, or complaints.
“It’s been a long couple of days with not a lot of sleep,” she said.
Hill and Rylee are expecting to head back home on Saturday. Hill said she will return to her job at Nordstrom Rack while Weigman cares for their daughter.
Tufts Medical Center said its first baby was born at 2:15 a.m. and Boston Medical Center reported its first birth of the year at 5:45 a.m.
