Conn. governor lifts ban on travel to Indiana

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has lifted a ban on state-funded travel to Indiana after that state amended a new religious freedom law to include protections from discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.

Connecticut woman accused of trying kill mother, 70

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — A Connecticut woman punched, slashed, and choked her 70-year-old mother before apparently giving up in frustration when her mother would not die, according to police. Gail Litsky repeatedly assaulted her mother over a three-hour span late Friday and into Saturday morning, investigators said. Authorities said the attacks only ended after Litsky told her teenage daughter, who had been staying at the home, to call police. Litsky, 47, was arraigned in Hartford Superior Court on Monday, detained on $500,000 bail and ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.

Crew didn’t know train hit woman

HARTFORD — A Metro-North railroad spokesman says a train crew reported striking something on the tracks in Westport last Thursday, but found no evidence it was a person. A woman’s body was found the next day.
