Brewery gets sewer connection fee reduced

The Board of Selectmen has elected to reduce the $25,000 sewer connection fee for the new Smuttynose Brewery off Towle Farm Road. Smuttynose asked for the reduction because the company paid to extend the sewer collection system to the building at no cost to the town, a project that cost $604,496, with about $250,000 covered by a federal grant. The brewery’s representative also pointed out that the extension may benefit other property in the future. The board opted to reduce the connection fee to $4,085.
