Mayor James J. Fiorentini has suspended without pay a local man who has worked for Haverhill’s Highway Parks Department for about a year after the city worker was arrested on multiple drug charges, including possession of various illegal drugs and possession to distribute. Jonathan Hernandez, 23, was arrested earlier this month following a drug task force investigation. Police were investigating the Groveland Street apartment building where Hernandez was living after receiving reports from other tenants about vehicles stopping at the building for short periods of time and people coming and going at all hours. Hernandez was released on personal recognizance, agreed to voluntarily move out of the Groveland Street apartment, and is due in court Jan. 10 for a pretrial hearing.
