Teen center opens near high school

A center for teens has opened in Malden, just down the street from the city’s public high school. The Malden Teen Enrichment Center at 1 Salem St., the former location of a Danversbank, held a ribbon cutting Dec. 12. The facility plans to offer leadership and youth development programs, along with gym access to teenagers, according to city officials. It is set to receive about $110,000 in city funds in 2013 to rent the space, employ a program coordinator and two part-time workers, and pay for other expenses, according to the city budget.
