Energy saving program expanding

Three months into the launch of The Big Blue Energy Initiative, a program to help residents reduce their home energy bills, the Swampscott Renewable Energy Committee recently announced that 28 households have signed up for home energy assessments, and that energy provider National Grid had selected the town as a municipal partner to expand the program and encourage energy savings elsewhere as part of its 2012-2013 Energy Initiative. The free home energy audits are offered as part of the statewide Mass Save program (www.masssave.com); a workshop on the program is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 6 p.m. at the Swampscott Public Library. Residents may also sign up at the Big Blue Energy Initiative website, www.bigblueenergy.org.
