AARP tax prep assistance for seniors starts in February

The AARP Tax Prep Assistance program will be available to Georgetown senior citizens and moderate-income individuals at the Council on Aging, 1 Library St. on Thursday mornings beginning at 9:30 from Feb. 7 through April 11. Appointments are required for the one-hour sessions. Participants should bring copies of 2011 federal and state tax returns as well as anything received in the mail marked "Important Tax Return Document Enclosed," including W-2, SSA-1099 (Social Security), 1099-R (pension/IRA), 1099-INT (interest), and 1099-B/1099-DIV (stocks/mutual funds) forms, as well as personal identification and copies of property tax bills and water bills. Information regarding tax preparation and the criteria for Massachusetts Circuit Breaker tax program is also available at the Council on Aging office.
