Community Teamwork Inc. of Lowell this week recognized its longstanding partner, the Billerica Veterans Office, for its efforts on behalf of Billerica’s neediest residents. The veterans office works hand-in-hand with Community Teamwork to ensure that Billerica’s disadvantaged citizens have access to fuel in winter, sparing many seniors, families, and veterans the agony of having to choose between adequate food and medicine or heating their homes. At the request of Community Teamwork, Senator Kenneth Donnelly, a Democrat from Arlington, whose district includes Billerica, on Wednesday was scheduled to present an award to the Billerica veterans office staff, veterans director Ken Buffum, and secretary Marie O’Rourke for their hard work and dedication.
