WinterFest set for Feb. 8

The full schedule is set for Lowell’s 2013 WinterFest, which will take place Friday, Feb. 8, and Saturday, Feb. 9. Friday events include an elementary and middle school snowman competition, an indoor children’s party at City Hall, opening ceremonies with live entertainment, the Pollard Library “Meeting of the Minds” trivia challenge, and the first round of the National Human Dogsled Competition. Saturday highlights include wildlife tracking at Hawk Valley Farm, ice sculpture demonstrations, free horse-drawn carriage rides through downtown, a dog-mushing demonstration, and the Human Dogsled Finals. New for this year will be a light and laser show grand finale Saturday evening. Most WinterFest activities are free and open to the public. For a detailed listing, visit www.lowell.org.
