Somerville municipal employees will receive a 14 percent pay raise as part of a new contract agreement with the city. The Somerville Municipal Employees Association approved the contract by a 177-to-11 vote on Jan. 24, according to an announcement from the city. The deal gives workers raises dating retroactively to 2010 and carrying through 2016 that total a 14 percent increase over the life of the contract. Among those included in the agreement are employees of the Department of Public Works, Somerville Public Library, and custodians. “This was a tribute to all efforts on both sides of the table,” said Ed Halloran, president of the employees association, in a prepared statement.
