Trustee resigns from library board

Karen Vitale recently resigned from the Flint Memorial Library board of trustees. Vitale had served on the six-member board since 2004, helping to shape policy, oversee the budget, and advocate on the library’s behalf. Mary Ann Lape, formerly an associate trustee, has been appointed Vitale’s successor. Filling the vacancy created by Lape’s appointment as a voting member of the board, the trustees have a new associate trustee, Danielle Masterson. Masterson will act as liaison to the Friends of the Library. The following officers were elected at the Jan. 16 trustees’ meeting: chairwoman Sharon Kelleher; vice chairwoman Kathryn Geoffrion-Scannell; and secretary Sarah Ralph.
