City aims to upgrade central fire station

The city has taken the first steps in a project to upgrade the central fire station on Broadway, as well as the Hancock Street fire station. Mayor Carlo DeMaria Jr. said the city has retained CBI Consulting of Boston to assist with the renovations, which are part of Everett’s capital improvement plan. The consultant will carry out a feasibility study in which it will evaluate the facility needs of the stations and prepare design options with cost estimates for them. It will then prepare a schematic design for the options selected. DeMaria, meanwhile, will deliver his midterm address on Monday at 11:30 a.m. at the Connolly Center on Chelsea Street. All residents are invited to attend the free event, which will include a catered lunch after the mayor’s talk.
