Last month the Howe-Manning School received a visit from Sharon Weston of Optimal Weight for Life , a multidisciplinary clinic at Children’s Hospital Boston that is designed to help treat children who are overweight or obese, those with or at risk for Type 2 diabetes, or both. Weston spoke about developing a taste for healthy foods at an early age, portion control, and portion distortion, as well as the difference between low-fat and low-glycemic diets. More information about the program is available at the hospital’s website, www.childrenshospital.org.
