Town receives solar nergy grant

The town has been awarded a $12,500 grant through the state Department of Energy Resources’ Green Communities Division. West Newbury was one of 21 communities awarded a technical assistance grant through the program, according to the state. The town will receive assistance in assessing the viability of, and options for, installing and managing a ground-mounted photovoltaic system on town land near the Dr. John C. Page Elementary School. Voters at the annual Town Meeting last spring voted in favor of designating roughly 2 acres of the land as a solar overlay district.
