Two promotions in Somerville Fire Department

Two veterans of the Somerville Fire Department received promotions and two open spots on city commissions were filled during an aldermen meeting Feb. 28. Wallace Forrest, who has been with the department since 1988, was promoted from captain to district fire chief, and Girard Gover, a Somerville firefighter since 1985, was promoted from lieutenant to captain. Both were sworn in during the Board of Aldermen meeting last Thursday. Aldermen also approved appointments to two commissions: Ross Richmond to the Human Rights Commission and Todd Easton to the Recreation and Youth Commission.
