Company donates 18,000 pounds of salt to city


With winter winding down, the city’s snow removal effort has gotten some help from an unexpected quarter. The City Council has voted to accept a donation of 18,000 pounds of salt from Lonza Biologics Inc. at Pease Tradeport. The salt was part of a shipment that did not meet the company’s requirements. The small-grain salt will probably be used to make brine, which is used to treat roads prior to snowstorms.
