Gloucester last week announced the hiring of Thomas Daniel as its new community development director and Thomas Gillett as executive director of the Gloucester Economic Development and Industrialization Corp. Daniel was most recently the manager of economic development in Salem, while Gillett has many years of experience in public and private business management. “We’re pulling together our economic development team,” said Mayor Carolyn Kirk. “We’re excited about the talent we’ve brought on staff.” Former community development director Sarah Garcia moved to the position of director of harbor planning in 2012, and planning director Greg Cademartori had been the acting director prior to Daniel’s hiring.
