Fish & Game Dept. acquires Wadleigh’s Neck

The Ipswich Open Space Program recently announced that the state’s Department of Fish & Game has purchased the 7-acre Cashman property between Mitchell Road and Town Farm Road, in the area commonly referred to as Wadleigh’s Neck. “It’s important wildlife habitat,” said Kristen Grubbs, the town’s open space manager. “It’s one of the few unprotected upland parcels in the northern marshland portion of Ipswich.” The property will be open for passive recreation, including hunting, as is much of the land in that area.
