Nomination papers became available last Monday for residents interested in running for office in the city election this fall. The offices to be filled on the ballot are the mayor; all 11 seats on the City Council; three seats on the School Committee; one seat on the Municipal Light Commission; and four seats on the Library Trustees. To qualify for a spot on the ballot, candidates must obtain 50 certified signatures of city residents. July 26 is the last day to take out nomination papers, and July 30 the deadline to return them. The preliminary election, if needed, will be held Sept. 17, and the final election will be held Nov. 5.
