Author Michael J. Tougias is scheduled to appear at 2:30 p.m. April 7 at the Stevens Memorial Library, 345 Main St. , to give a slide presentation on his new book, “A Storm Too Soon: A True Story of Disaster, Survival, and an Incredible Rescue.” The book, which was released in January, documents the maritime rescue of three men who, in May 2007, had to abandon their 47-foot sailboat, Sean Seamour II, in the Atlantic when the vessel was struck by a wave during a storm. The trio, led by an injured captain, Jean Pierre “JP” de Lutz, were found clinging to a torn life raft being battered by 70-foot waves in winds that reached 100 miles per hour. Tougias’s presentation is free; the presentation is sponsored by the Friends of the Stevens Memorial Library. For more information, call the library at 978-688-9505.
