Library offers teen haiku contest

To celebrate National Poetry Month in April, the Peabody Institute Library’s teen department is offering a haiku contest for youths ages 11-18. Haiku is a form of very brief Japanese poetry. Rules and entry forms for the contest are available on the Teens section of or in the teen room of the main library, 82 Main St. All haiku must be submitted by April 11. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded by April 30. The teen department, meanwhile, is offering a free three-week Introduction to Video Game Design course for young people ages 11-18 on April 2, 9, and 23 at 7 p.m. at the main library. To register, go to the Events for Teens calendar on the teen department Web page or call teen librarian Melissa Robinson at 978-531-0100, ext. 14.
