Middlesex sheriff to kick off Citizens Academy Wednesday

Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian is scheduled to kick off the inaugural Middlesex Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy on Wednesday. The academy, designed to provide Middlesex residents with a deeper understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and activities of the sheriff’s office, is being held at the sheriff’s training academy in Billerica. Participants will tour the House of Correction, learn about women in corrections, hear from an inmate, and be introduced to the office’s K-9 and special operations teams. A limited number of spots are available for the first class, which will be held once a week for eight weeks, and will be filled in a first-come, first-served basis.
