Commission seeks peace prize nominees

Newburyport’s Commission for Diversity and Tolerance is seeking nominations for its 18th annual Peace Prize awards. Nominations must be received by April 29. The commission annually honors one man and one woman. Nominees must be adults who reside in Newburyport and have contributed to furthering the commission’s mission. Established in 2005, the group strives to further a sense of welcome and inclusion in Newburyport. To nominate someone, send a brief letter describing how the nominee exemplifies peacemaking; furthers Newburyport’s policy to promote and support a sense of welcome, inclusion, and worth for all; and works to eliminate prejudice, intolerance, discrimination, and acts of hate in the community. Nominations may be e-mailed to or mailed to the commission at PO Box 1283, Newburyport, MA 01950. For more information, visit
