Dog licensing in full swing

Wakefield’s annual dog licensing season began last Monday and will continue through May 31. During that time, dog owners can obtain a license in the town clerk’s office for a fee of $5 for neutered dogs and $10 for nonneutered dogs. First-time licensing will require a current rabies certificate and, to qualify for the $5 fee, proof of neutering. Those who purchase a license after May 31 will be subject to a $10 late fee in addition to the regular fee. Meanwhile, Wednesday is the deadline to register to vote in the April 30 annual town election, the May 6 annual Town Meeting, and the April 30 state primary in the special election for US Senate. The clerk’s office will be open extra hours, until 8 p.m., on Wednesday for the voter registration.
