Haverhill school official moves to Whittier

Kara Kosmes, assistant superintendent for finance and operations for Haverhill’s public schools, has accepted a position at Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School. The regional School Committee earlier this month voted unanimously to offer Kosmes the position of business manager at the technical school, which serves 1,233 students from 11 communities: Amesbury, Georgetown, Groveland, Haverhill, Ipswich, Merrimac, Newbury, Newburyport, Rowley, Salisbury, and West Newbury. Kosmes, who has been overseeing the Haverhill district’s finances since 1997, will replace Kevin Mahoney, who left Whittier to become an assistant superintendent at Minuteman High School in Lexington. Kosmes is expected to finish out the school year in Haverhill and join the leadership team at Whittier this summer.
