Local historian and author Ellen Knight is scheduled to discuss the Aberjona River during a visit to the Winchester Historical Society, 15 High St., at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Knight’s talk, titled “How the River Shaped the Town; How the Town Reshaped the River,” will explore the history of the river. She will use maps and photographs from the collections of the Winchester Archival Center and draw upon her experience as historical consultant to the town’s flood team to describe the rich history of the Aberjona, the industries and challenges that have caused changes over the years, and to help explain how the current flood mitigation program will benefit the river. The Sanborn House Historical and Cultural Center is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and by appointment.
