Dog park surface may need to change

Aldermen in Somerville want a city dog park resurfaced in order to reduce odor in the neighborhood. Aldermen Dennis Sullivan and Thomas Taylor are seeking a review of the surface of the dog park at Nunziato Field in East Somerville. Sullivan said he regularly takes his dog to the park, and that it can become very dusty and odorous. “The smell of dog . . . by-product, if you will, is very negative for the neighborhood,” he said in an aldermen’s meeting April 25. The board approved a request to have the city’s Department of Public Works look into resurfacing options for the park.
