French Square Market Night needs volunteers

The town is seeking volunteers to help plan and operate this year’s French Square Market Night, and to launch a regular farmers’ market for the town. French Square Market Night started last year as an attempt to transform the square — located in the middle of the town center — into a social, cultural, and commercial hub. The outdoor market operates during the summer, featuring bistro tables and vendors from Winthrop offering prepared foods, crafts, jewelry, and other items, as well as live entertainment. The market ran weekly last summer, but this year will be offered once a month in June, July, and August. The farmer’s market will be a daytime outdoor market offering fruits and vegetables and other locally produced items. It will meet weekly for up to seven weeks starting in September. Anyone interested in volunteering for either market can contact Joanne Hillman at or Joseph Domelowicz at
