Coleman Nee, the state’s secretary of veterans services, will visit Peabody on Monday for a discussion with state lawmakers and veterans services officers from the Second Essex state Senate district. The meeting, to be held at the Torigian Community Life Center, will focus on services the state provides to military veterans. The session was organized by state Senator Joan B. Lovely, a Salem Democrat who represents the district. Other lawmakers scheduled to attend are state Representatives John D. Keenan of Salem, Jerry Parisella of Beverly, and Theodore C. Speliotis of Danvers, all Democrats, and Leah Cole, a Peabody Republican. The veterans’ service officers scheduled to attend are from Beverly, Danvers, Peabody, Salem, and Topsfield, communities that make up the district. The 2 p.m. meeting is not open to the public, but Nee will be available briefly afterward to greet veterans. Nee, a veteran of the Marine Corps and Operation Desert Storm, has been secretary of veterans services since January 2011.
