Selectmen to assess financial recommendations

The Board of Selectmen is planning to hold a workshop this month to consider the 31 recommendations in the state Department of Revenue’s financial management review delivered earlier this year. The board requested the assessment last August, according to Town Administrator Michael Farrell, and hopes to use it as a tool to restructure the municipal government into a more efficient organization. Among the recommendations are that the town should consider writing a charter, that certain volunteer committees be eliminated, and that the members of some other committees be appointed and not elected.
